Zellous footwear is produced using considered materials and construction methods. Proper care preserves form, finish, and longevity.

STORAGE

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and heat, which affect adhesives, color, and material integrity.

Keep in dust bags or breathable covers—never plastic or airtight containers.

Insert shoe trees or tissue paper to maintain shape. Store light colors separately to prevent transfer.

WEARING

Rotate footwear between wears. Materials need 24 hours to rest and release moisture absorbed from feet.

Avoid prolonged water exposure and abrasive surfaces unless the material is specifically engineered for it.

If shoes become wet, air dry at room temperature. Never apply direct heat.

Use a shoehorn to protect heel counters and seams.

MATERIAL CARE

Suede + Nubuck Care

Natural Characteristics Suede develops patina over time. Slight variations and natural markings are inherent to the material.

Routine Maintenance Brush with a soft suede brush (not metal) after each wear to remove surface dirt and restore nap. Brush in the direction of the natural grain.

For stains, use a suede eraser with gentle, circular motions. Do not press hard.

Deep Cleaning For extensive cleaning, use suede-specific cleaner diluted in lukewarm water. Apply with a soft brush in circular motions. Rinse with clean water until no soap remains.

Air dry completely—24 hours minimum—away from heat and sunlight. Stuff with newspaper or shoe trees to maintain shape during drying.

Once dry, brush to restore nap.

Protection Apply water-repellent spray before first wear and reapply every 6-8 weeks. Hold spray 15cm from shoe and apply evenly, including where sole meets upper.

Avoid wearing suede in rain or snow when possible.

Staining Suede absorbs liquids easily and stains permanently. Light colors are particularly vulnerable to transfer from makeup, oils, metal, and darker materials.

UV exposure causes fading and discoloration over time.

LEATHER CARE

Natural Characteristics Leather is an organic material. Natural markings, grain variations, and creasing are inherent characteristics that evolve with wear.

Routine Maintenance Wipe with a soft, dry cloth after wear to remove surface dirt.

For light cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth. Avoid water saturation.

Conditioning Condition leather every 2-3 months to replace natural oils and prevent cracking. Use leather-specific conditioner—test on inconspicuous area first.

Apply small amount with soft cloth in circular motions. Let rest 10-20 minutes, then buff with clean cloth.

Avoid

  • Oil-based household products
  • Perfumes and alcohol-based products
  • Prolonged moisture exposure
  • Direct heat and sunlight

PATENT, PU & HIGH-SHINE MATERIALS

Clean gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh cleaners that dull the finish.

TEXTILES & MIXED MATERIALS

Spot clean only with a soft cloth. Never soak or submerge.

SOLES & HARDWARE

Sole and heel wear is normal with use. Inspect regularly and replace worn components promptly to prevent structural damage to the shoe.

Avoid contact with corrosive substances that affect finishes or hardware.

Sole protectors may be added by a professional cobbler if desired.

PROFESSIONAL CARE

For structural issues, deep cleaning, refinishing, or sole replacement, consult a professional cobbler.

LONG-TERM STORAGE

Ensure footwear is clean and completely dry before extended storage.

Insert shoe trees or tissue paper to retain shape.

Store in dust bags in a dark, temperature-stable environment. Do not stack items on top.
